his course surveys fictions written by major British and American writers. The general objective of the course is to introduce students to a range of topics and methodologies which help characterize the British and American literature. The most important core skill we will learn in this course will be close-reading, improvement of listening skill and critical understanding of literature in the lieu of connections among your life experience, critical analysis, and literary works’ intertextuality with historical, social, ethical, philosophical, cultural, and ethnic contexts. I will provide various handouts to help you broaden and deepen your expertise on critical understanding of American and British fictions.
